Children at St George's

Services

Children are very welcome at services at St George's. We have packs of children's material available; if you think your child would like one, please ask one the greeting team on your arrival.

Please feel free to bring your child out into the Community Space during the service if it all gets a bit much for them, the service is relayed into this area and there are playthings and drawing materials available here during the service. We ask, please, that you do not leave them on their own.

Please listen out for information concerning or Sunday School, all children are welcome to join with them.

Please do not feed your children in church, except for breast feeding, of course!

Sunday school

We are totally committed to providing a resource for children to be taught the Christian faith. During the principal Eucharist on Sunday at 10:00 am, the children leave the main body of the church to spend time with each other under the supervision of adults who have volunteered to use their skills to assist in the provision of Christian education.

We take the Christian education of our young people very seriously and all are volunteer leaders are CRB checked. The classes are graded in two groups: under 7s and over 7s. A monthly group for 12 year old and upward is also held. Provision is made for babies in a crèche area at the rear of the church into which the service is relayed.

The Sunday school is activity based and the theme is usually chosen to coincide with the Gospel reading of the day, so that children are taught the same subject as their parents. We try to encourage the children to participate in the worship; we do believe that they should blend in and be part of the service.
